YogaXoga’s Top Ten: Memories from the Mat 2010

Here’s my list of memories from the mat for 2010… feel free to add a comment with yours…In these last days of 2010, I hope that you find just a moment or two to sit back and reflect on the year — blessings, challenges, lessons…what we’re grateful for, what we’re ready to put behind us and what we’ll cherish & remember as we near closer to 2011…

10. Each and every week, getting to know YOU – my YogaXoga clients better in class and out of class….

9. Variety is the key for me: corporate stress relief yoga, golfer yoga, therapeutic yoga, active adults yoga… every BODY and MIND can benefit from yoga…

8. Experiencing with new clients the delight and disbelief that yoga really does help us do the practical things of life better…as one client said recently….”it just makes everything better…” I love that.

7. Conducting our first ever series of YogaXoga teacher trainings with our wonderful teachers Sally, Kate and Kathy. Training manuals, processes, reports, oh my! I knew those years at Sprint would come in handy later…

6.  YogaXoga for Mindfulness: Teaching young women who are overcoming eating disorders better tools to manage stress and accept/love themselves…and guiding teens recovering from drug and alcohol abuse that there are healthier ways to cope and get better. These are my toughest classes but some of the most rewarding.

5. Looking out in class and seeing all the families practicing yoga: husbands and wives, sisters, fathers and sons, grandparents and grandchildren…what a great way to spend some family time!

4. My last two weeks of classes in Kansas City…a mixed bag of tears, hope, excitement and sadness...closing one door and opening another …hugs and goodbyes and see you later’s… such wonderful memories that will be in my heart forever. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

3. Planning, building the expansion of YogaXoga… seeing a simple dream begin to expand and flourish…excited to see what it will become…

2. Enjoying the community of YogaXoga…and wanting to do more of that in the future…lunches, after class get-togethers….events… we are a very special community…maybe a winter retreat in the Arizona desert some February soon?

1. Thrilled by the number of clients who are now hooked on YogaXoga…and even though I won’t be your everyday teacher, I know many of  you will continue to practice and enjoy the benefits of yoga. I’m so humbled that I was able to play a role in that…

Highlights from Germany & Austria

So, I’ve been a bad blogger lately.  A little inconsistent, but well-intentioned.  I thought I’d ease back in with highlights from our recent vacation. We returned a couple weeks ago from our trip to Germany and Austria.

For those of you back home, this was a momentous trip for me in another way.  Because we’ve been expanding YogaXoga by training other teachers, we were able to keep nearly every class going while I was away.  That was such a relief to know my classes were in great hands.

This trip was well over a year in the making and preparing and it did not disappoint (in many ways, it overdelivered!).  We (my husband, parents and I) had a great time and have many wonderful memories of our trip…here are just a few…

At the Hohenschwangau castle, "Disneyland Castle" behind me

Yes, that's chard in the flower beds...wonder if the Germans eat it too?

The Maechtlen Clan in Schorndorf, Germany

Just for Fun: Anyone can do yoga…

I’m sure you’ve experienced this at home if you have animals and try to exercise….My mom and dad try to do one of my yoga dvd segments at least a couple of times a week, when they can’t make it to class – yes! I’m very proud – they are model yoga students.  Today, they had an extra student: my soft-coated Wheaten/Poodle mix, Charli.  She does yoga at home with me too…dogs are natural yogis.  Thought I’d share…

Chest Expansion...this yoga stuff is exhausting...

Just getting started...

I've got my strap, I'm ready...
